Cognitive and Emotional Mediators Link Childhood Trauma to PLEs

The study of 4,087 adolescents found that childhood trauma increases the risk of psychotic-like experiences (PLEs), with cognitive biases, neuroticism, and depression acting as key mediators. Adolescents experiencing trauma alongside these factors had a significantly higher risk of PLEs. Path analysis explained 44.7% of PLE variance, highlighting the need for integrated screening and therapeutic interventions targeting cognitive and emotional processes.
