Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Obesity modified as FIRE method (CBT-F) in combination with medication for weight loss

The rising global obesity rates demand effective treatments. This study investigates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy modified as FIRE method (CBT-F), combining cognitive therapy with pharmacotherapy. Sixty-two women were divided into CBT-F and pharmacotherapy-only groups. Over 68.5 days, CBT-F participants achieved significantly greater weight loss. Blood chemistry data showed no notable differences. CBT-F addresses psychological factors and medication effects, enhancing treatment success and sustainability. While this study focused on women, CBT-F's effectiveness warrants exploration in diverse populations. It offers a promising alternative or complementary option for obesity treatment, emphasizing its potential for sustainability and effectiveness. Further research is needed for validation and broader application.
