The phase III SUNLIGHT trial demonstrated that combining trifluridine–tipiracil (FTD–TPI) with bevacizumab is a more effective treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer than FTD–TPI alone. The trial included 246 patients randomly assigned to receive either FTD–TPI alone or in combination with bevacizumab. The results showed that the median overall survival for patients who received the combination treatment was 10.8 months, while the control group had a median overall survival of 7.5 months. These findings suggest that adding bevacizumab to FTD–TPI can improve outcomes for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.
