The study compared the effectiveness of two different treatment strategies for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)–associated vasculitis (AAV), a type of autoimmune disease. The study analyzed data from a real-world cohort of AAV patients and compared the outcomes of those treated with rituximab and cyclophosphamide. The primary outcome measured was the composite of kidney failure or death. The results showed that both treatment strategies had similar risks of kidney failure and death over five years. These findings suggest that rituximab and cyclophosphamide are equally effective in inducing remission for AAV patients.
