Comparative Efficacy of Infliximab and Vedolizumab in Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

A study compared the efficacy of various intravenous or subcutaneous infliximab and vedolizumab regimens for maintaining the treatment of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). Thirteen randomized controlled trials were analyzed, revealing that subcutaneous infliximab 120 mg every 2 weeks exhibited the highest odds ratios for achieving clinical remission in both CD and UC. Additionally, subcutaneous infliximab showed superior mucosal healing rates in UC compared to intravenous vedolizumab. In CD, subcutaneous infliximab every 2 weeks outperformed intravenous infliximab every 8 weeks in endoscopic outcomes. These findings suggest subcutaneous infliximab as a promising option for maintaining remission and improving endoscopic outcomes in CD and UC.
