The study investigated the effectiveness of administering 1 ml of 24% sucrose orally one minute before vaccination in reducing pain in term neonates. Neonates were randomly assigned to two groups: sucrose and swaddling. The sucrose group exhibited a significantly lower Modified Neonatal Facial Coding Score (MFCS) and reduced cry duration than the swaddling group. The results suggest that administering 1 ml of 24% sucrose before immunization is an effective strategy for pain management during injectable vaccinations in neonates.
