This retrospective monocenter analysis aimed to compare the intra- and postoperative outcomes of the sutureless scleral fixated Carlevale intraocular lens (IOL) with the iris fixated Artisan IOL. Assessing refractive outcomes and complications in 178 eyes (101 Carlevale and 77 Artisan IOLs), the study found two statistically significant differences. The Carlevale group exhibited a significant deviation in postoperative spherical equivalent from the chosen IOL target compared to the Artisan group. Additionally, the number of eyes with complications was significantly lower in the Carlevale group, suggesting that the Carlevale IOL is a viable option with comparable outcomes and a lower complication risk in the short term.
