Elderly individuals suffering from acute myocardial infarction face unique challenges in treatment. This growing demographic often has multiple health issues and frailty concerns, particularly in comparison to younger patients. They also frequently exhibit high-risk symptoms like heart failure and shock, accompanied by complex coronary artery disease. However, despite these obstacles, prompt reperfusion of the affected vessel through primary percutaneous coronary intervention and early invasive strategies can greatly benefit older patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
