In the realm of advanced small cell lung cancer (SCLC) treatment, programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors have gained prominence as a primary therapeutic avenue. The study, conducted between July 2018 and February 2021, scrutinized data from 208 SCLC patients undergoing PD-L1 inhibitor therapy to explore the influence of concomitant proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use on treatment outcomes. The results revealed a noteworthy disparity in progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) between patients receiving PPIs and those without. Specifically, PPI use correlated with a 74.9% elevated risk of progression and a 58.3% increased risk of death, indicating a detrimental impact on clinical outcomes. This finding underscores the need for careful consideration of concomitant medications in immunotherapy regimens for SCLC.
