An early-phase, nonrandomized controlled study determined the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and assessed the efficacy of hypofractionated concurrent chemoradiation with an adaptive stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) boost for patients with inoperable or surgery-refused stage II or III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Enrolling patients from May 2011 to May 2018, the study found that concurrent chemoradiation with an adaptive SABR boost to 70 Gy in 15 fractions is a safe and effective regimen for locally advanced, unresectable NSCLC, with a two-year local control of 100% in the high-dose cohort.
