The use of cancer cell membrane (CCM) derived nanotechnology to functionalize nanoparticles (NPs) has the potential for accurate tumor therapy. However, previous studies have used fixed cell lines and evaluated in subcutaneous-xenografts (CDX), limiting the therapeutic efficiency. This study fabricated various biomimetic nanoplatforms using CCMs of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cell lines and patient-derived cells on the surface of Au@C NP. The generated Au@C-CCMs were evaluated on different tumor models, including primary and distant tumor models, resulting in distinct tumor ablation and tumor growth inhibition. This study reinforces the feasibility of biomimetic NPs for customized treatment of HNSCC and other malignant tumors therapy.
