
This study investigated the correlation between abdominal fat distribution and serum uric acid (SUA) levels in recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients. Analyzing 364 individuals, the hyperuricemia group (HG) displayed higher abdominal subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, BMI, glucose levels, glycosylated albumin, and lower HDL-C compared to the control group (CG). Among obese individuals with hyperuricemia, measurements of various parameters were higher, while non-obese hyperuricemia subjects showed elevated visceral fat and glucose levels. Positive correlations were found between visceral fat and SUA levels. ROC analysis revealed visceral fat as an independent risk factor for hyperuricemia and an effective predictor of insulin resistance in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients.
