The study aimed to investigate the link between thyroid function and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by analyzing thyroid hormone sensitivity. The study evaluated 415 PCOS patients and 137 non-PCOS individuals, calculating thyroid hormone sensitivity indices. Results indicated higher indices in PCOS patients. After adjusting for covariates, decreased thyroid hormone sensitivity was associated with increased PCOS risk. No significant correlation was found between thyroid measures and metabolic parameters in PCOS. The study suggests that reduced central thyroid hormone sensitivity may elevate PCOS risk, warranting further research for confirmation and understanding mechanisms.
