In a triple-blinded randomized controlled trial, the study team compared the therapeutic outcomes of Iranian surfactant (beraksurf) and BLES (bovine lipid extract surfactant) in treating respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) among preterm neonates. The study involved 128 eligible neonates with RDS, randomly assigned to either beraksurf or BLES groups. Results indicate similar efficacy and short-term outcomes for both surfactants. Considering the cost-effectiveness of beraksurf, the study recommends its preference for RDS treatment over BLES.

The paste maintained about 75% metabolic activity and better preserved cell viability, supporting further investigation as a medicament for regenerative endodontic procedures.

As a single-arm study, the findings are descriptive and require controlled confirmation.

The findings support phenotype-informed risk assessment and personalized prevention and treatment.
