In a recent study, the cost-effectiveness of using intraoperative optical coherence tomography (iOCT) in Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) surgery was evaluated. The study called the ADVISE trial, examined data from 65 patients who underwent DMEK surgery. The results showed no significant difference in cost-effectiveness between the two groups. However, the study suggested that the value of iOCT could be increased by improving surgical efficiency and aiding in decision-making during surgery.
