CPAP Improves Brain Biomarkers in OSA but Shows No Cognitive Boost

A trial of 148 middle-aged OSA patients found that 12 months of CPAP therapy improved cortical thickness and functional connectivity of the default mode network, suggesting brain recovery. However, no significant cognitive improvement was detected via the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. These findings highlight CPAP’s neuroprotective effects despite limited cognitive gains.
