CPMRx App Cuts Opioid Misuse Post-Cesarean

Postoperative opioid misuse is a significant public health issue, particularly among cesarean section patients. This study evaluated the impact of the CPMRx mobile application on opioid misuse and prescribing practices. Patients were randomized to a control group or an experimental group using CPMRx for pain management. Logistic regression revealed a 92% reduction in opioid misuse odds in the CPMRx group (OR = 0.08, p = 0.03). Relative risk estimation showed a sevenfold higher misuse risk in the control group (RR = 7.00, p = 0.05). Median opioid use among non-misusers was one pill, suggesting a prescription size of 7 tablets of 5 mg oxycodone is more appropriate. Implementing CPMRx can optimize prescribing practices, reduce misuse, and mitigate public health burdens.
