Current trends in non‐surgical management of Peyronie's disease—A narrative review

Peyronie's disease (PD), a connective tissue disorder affecting the male reproductive organ, causes pain and deformation, becoming more common with age. While surgery is typically recommended for advanced cases, this article explores non-surgical treatments. A review of studies from 2012 to 2022 identified 20 strategies. Among them, phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors help with erectile dysfunction, while collagenase injections show promise in reducing penile curvature. Extracorporeal shockwaves can alleviate pain, and penile traction therapy may reduce curvature and plaque size. However, most non-surgical methods lack strong scientific backing, highlighting the need for more research in this area.
