Dapagliflozin's Efficacy and Safety in Heart Failure with Mildly Reduced or Preserved Ejection Fraction, and its Implications for COPD Patients

In a recent analysis of the DELIVER trial, the impact of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) on patients with heart failure and mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (HFmrEF/HFpEF) were examined. The study found that 11.1% of 6,261 patients had a history of COPD. Patients with mild-to-moderate COPD faced a higher risk of cardiovascular death or worsening heart failure (adjusted hazard ratio 1.28). However, the efficacy of dapagliflozin, in comparison to a placebo, in improving outcomes remained consistent regardless of COPD status.
