Researchers aimed to create a practical tool to identify psoriasis patients at high risk of developing psoriatic arthritis (PsA) for early detection. They analyzed data from a psoriasis patient cohort, developing prediction models for PsA using demographic, psoriasis-related, and health data. Within 1 year, PsA risk was linked to factors like age, gender, family history, joint symptoms, and medication use (AUC 72.3). Within 5 years, morning stiffness, nail, and psoriasis severity, fatigue, and medication use were significant (AUC 74.9). The study suggests that readily available clinical data can predict PsA development in psoriasis patients within clinically relevant timeframes.
