Persistent symptoms, described as long COVID or post-COVID-19 conditions, pose a potential public health problem. Here, the design and recruitment of the PRIME post-COVID study are described. PRIME post-COVID is a large-scale population-based observational study that aims to improve understanding of the occurrence, risk factors, and social, physical, mental, emotional, and socioeconomic impact of the post-COVID-19 condition. The PRIME post-COVID study will provide insights into various health-related aspects of the post-COVID-19 situation in the context of various stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Results will inform practical guidance for society and clinical and public health practice for preventing and caring for the long-term impact of COVID-19.

Blocking miR-30e-5p reduced atherosclerosis in obese and atherosclerotic mice, highlighting a potential therapeutic pathway.

Mechanical ventilation and vasopressor support were linked to lower survival, while lactate, bilirubin, and INR did not predict outcomes, suggesting HH reflects underlying systemic failure more than an independent cause of mortality.

Evidence indicates that ASC speck formation triggers caspase-1 activation, gasdermin D-mediated pyroptosis, and IL-1β/IL-18 signalling, creating self-amplifying inflammation and tissue breakdown. The model could refine diagnosis and help redefine the biological limits of vital pulp therapy.

Varenicline increased tear production but needs further comparative validation.
