The study introduces the Perinatal Early Assessment and Communication system for Emergencies (PEACE), an internet-based system for sharing maternal and newborn health information during large-scale disasters. The results showed that the PEACE input rate was higher for perinatal medical care (CPMs) than combined clinics and regional general hospitals. However, after encouraging input from various organizations, the input rates increased significantly for both categories of facilities. The study concludes that JSOG has established the first national system for sharing health information of pregnant women and newborns for use during disasters. The cooperation of prefectures and experience during disaster drills were critical to improving PEACE input rates.
