Researchers have developed a prognostic model to predict the risk of severe hypoglycemia in diabetes patients receiving outpatient care in the United States. The study, called iNPHORM, analyzed data from 986 participants with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The final model included several variables such as age, sex, body mass index, education level, insurance coverage, and various health factors. The model demonstrated strong discriminative validity and could be used to develop personalized strategies for reducing the occurrence of severe hypoglycemic events and the overall burden of diabetes.
