Diabetes Distress and Associations With Demographic and Clinical Variables

Diabetes Distress and Associations With Demographic and Clinical Variables

A study assessed diabetes distress prevalence among adults with type 1 diabetes. Of 16,255 participants, 10,186 completed the questionnaire, with 21.7% reporting high distress. Female sex, younger age, non-European origin, primary education only, unemployment, smoking, continuous glucose monitoring use, more symptomatic hypoglycemia, reduced foot sensitivity, treated retinopathy, and higher HbA1c were associated with higher distress. This study underscores the need for regular care to identify and address diabetes distress among adults with type 1 diabetes.
