A recent study from Salford, UK, analyzed data from 11,806 individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) between 2010 and 2020 to understand the impact of foot complications on mortality. Results revealed 3921 deaths during this period, with 75% of patients experiencing at least one foot complication. Patients with foot complications had double the mortality risk compared to those without T2D, particularly if they had high albumin-to-creatinine ratios or low estimated glomerular filtration rates. Overall, this study underscores the importance of addressing foot complications in T2D management to reduce mortality risk.
