In a study involving 42 adults with obesity, diacerein led to a significant weight loss of −6.56% compared to −0.59% in the placebo group over 14 weeks. Diacerein also resulted in notable improvements in body composition, metabolic variables, and fatty liver indicators. Additionally, serum visfatin levels were significantly reduced with diacerein treatment. Reduced total body fat mass and visceral fat area contributed to the observed weight loss. These findings suggest that diacerein is a promising option for managing obesity, offering considerable weight loss and metabolic benefits with a good safety profile.
