Diagnostic performance of microUltrasound at MRI‐guided confirmatory biopsy in patients under active surveillance for low‐risk prostate cancer

The study evaluated the impact of micro-ultrasound (microUS) and targeted biopsies in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) in patients under active surveillance (AS). A total of 100 patients with low-risk prostate cancer were enrolled, and dmicroUS was used to identify suspicious lesions. The results showed that microUS and mpMRI had high sensitivity and negative predictive value (NPV) in detecting csPCa. The study suggests that microUS could be used as an alternative imaging modality to mpMRI for identifying and targeting suspicious lesions in AS patients and that microUS and mpMRI could be used for event-triggered confirmatory biopsies in AS patients.
