The study evaluated the diagnostic value of reduced left atrial compliance during exercise in diagnosing heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in patients with chronic dyspnoea. The study involved two protocols, including exercise stress echocardiography and exercise right heart catheterization. The results showed that exercise LA compliance demonstrated superior diagnostic ability to exercise E/e' ratio, with incremental diagnostic value over the resting LA compliance. The study suggests that exercise LA compliance may enhance the diagnosis of HFpEF among patients with dyspnoea.
