This study compares the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) activation and salt sensitivity of blood pressure (SSBP) between metabolically healthy overweight/obesity (MHOO) and metabolically unhealthy overweight/obesity (MUOO) phenotypes. Despite similar BMI values, individuals in the MUOO group exhibited significantly higher RAAS activity and SSBP compared to the MHOO group. These findings suggest that therapeutic strategies targeting RAAS components may provide cardiometabolic protection for individuals with the MUOO phenotype.
