A recent study has shed light on a potential connection between discomfort in the lower limbs, often referred to as growing pains in children and adolescents, and the risk of developing migraines. The analysis involved 100 participants born to mothers with a history of migraines, half of whom experienced growing pains. The study found that families with children suffering from growing pains had a higher prevalence of migraines among parents and vice versa. After a 5-year follow-up, 76% of those with growing pains and 22% of controls reported headaches. The study suggests that lower limb discomfort in young individuals may indicate a precursor or comorbidity with migraines.
