Using propensity score matching, results indicated a lower likelihood of anxiety and depression diagnoses in male, minority, African American, Asian, and Other racial groups, with higher rates in native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander individuals. Furthermore, treatment with pharmacotherapy was less common among males, minority groups, African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and Spanish speakers. These findings suggest inequities in the mental health diagnosis and treatment of HNC survivors, highlighting the need for further research to confirm these associations and explore the underlying mechanisms contributing to these disparities.
