Phenotypic age acceleration (PhenoAgeAccel) was used to assess biological aging. Results showed a nonlinear relationship between PhenoAgeAccel and all-cause and cause-specific mortality. However, the association between high PhenoAgeAccel and increased all-cause mortality was stronger in individuals with moderate/severe periodontitis than those with no/mild periodontitis. The findings suggest that periodontitis may intensify the link between biological aging and mortality, emphasizing the importance of periodontal health in extending lifespan and slowing down aging.

Omalizumab and newer therapies such as dupilumab and remibrutinib expand options for refractory disease, while future care may be guided by biomarkers and disease endotypes.
