Dulaglutide May Prevent Diabetic Kidney Disease In Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

A recent study published in Diabetes Care suggests that Dulaglutide (DU) may slow the progression of diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The study found a 25% reduced risk of kidney-function-related outcomes in patients who received DU compared to placebo. Dulaglutide improved composite renal outcomes in T2D patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) history or risk factors, and patients treated with DU experienced a smaller annual decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) compared to placebo. These findings indicate that dulaglutide may offer renal benefits to adults with T2D and cardiovascular risk.
