
This study presents an innovative hydrogel system designed for wound care, incorporating polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), pyrogallol as a crosslinker, and casein micelles for encapsulating hydrophobic drugs like silver sulfadiazine (SSD). The hydrogel demonstrates high mechanical strength, sustained SSD release over 24 hours, and biocompatibility in mouse fibroblast L929 cells and Caenorhabditis elegans. It also exhibits anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, facilitating wound healing. This dynamic hydrogel offers a promising platform for targeted delivery of hydrophobic therapeutics in skin injury treatments.
