A study analyzed data from immunocompetent adults with human adenovirus (HAdV) pneumonia. The study aimed to predict early risk factors for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a leading cause of HAdV-related fatalities. Of the 102 patients with adenovirus pneumonia, 40.2% developed ARDS, with male predominance. Dyspnea, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score, lactate dehydrogenase, and mechanical ventilation were identified as independent risk factors for ARDS development. A predictive nomogram with high accuracy (0.904) was developed, aiding early ARDS prediction and management.
