A recent randomized controlled trial involving 121 patients who underwent oral cancer surgery and free flap reconstruction found that early swallowing training had significant positive effects on postoperative outcomes. The intervention group, which received swallowing training on the sixth day after surgery, showed higher scores on the Mann Assessment of Swallowing Ability‐Oral Cancer (MASA-OC) and experienced better weight loss rates compared to the control group. Furthermore, the intervention group had shorter nasogastric tube removal time and improved quality of life. The findings suggest that early swallowing training improves swallowing function, nutritional status, and quality of life in patients undergoing oral cancer surgery with free flap reconstruction
