In patients with acute endocarditis and preoperative stroke, the timing of valve surgery is crucial. This study analyzed 656 patients, finding no significant increase in postoperative stroke risk with early surgery (within 72 hours). Although preoperative stroke patients had a higher incidence of postoperative hemorrhagic stroke, early surgery did not exacerbate this risk. The data suggest early valve surgery is feasible and safe for these patients.
