This study discovered that routine ECG measurements can predict mortality in patients suffering from chronic HFrEF. The study, which included 4880 patients from the Vericiguat Global Study in Subjects with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction (VICTORIA) trial, found significant associations between ECG measurements and mortality rates. Key findings include heart rate and QRS duration being linked to cardiovascular and all-cause deaths, while the absence of left ventricular hypertrophy correlated with reduced cardiovascular mortality. Notably, contiguous pathologic Q waves were associated with sudden death, and right ventricular hypertrophy was linked to all-cause death. Gender-based differences were observed, with women experiencing a more pronounced increase in sudden death risk.
