Emergency Department (ED) measurements of intraocular pressure (IOP) and visual acuity (VA) can effectively screen for abnormalities in ophthalmology exams. This study, reviewing 1463 visits from February 2022 to January 2023, found that ED screening had an AUC of 0.846 for abnormal IOP and 0.863 for abnormal VA. Sensitivity for IOP >25 mmHg was 0.78, and for VA <20/40, it was 0.88, showing promising results. However, these tests were rarely performed in the ED.
