Edaravone Dexborneol Improves Stroke Recovery and Reduces Inflammation

The study investigated the impact of edaravone dexborneol on functional outcomes and the systemic inflammatory response in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received edaravone dexborneol treatment within 48 hours of stroke onset. The inflammatory response was assessed by measuring cytokine levels within 14 days post-stroke. Among 85 AIS patients, those treated with edaravone dexborneol had a significantly higher proportion of modified Rankin Scale scores < 2 than those who did not receive the treatment (70.7% vs. 47.8%; P = 0.031). Additionally, the treated group exhibited lower levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-17 and higher levels of IL-4 and IL-10 (P < 0.05). The study concluded that edaravone dexborneol treatment led to better functional outcomes and modulated the inflammatory response in AIS patients.
