The analysis of approximately 200,000 cases of sickness absence due to mental disorders highlighted that the education sector experienced a notably longer average duration of absence, at 235 days, compared to 188 days in other sectors. The findings indicated that this trend persisted even after adjusting for gender and age. Gender differences were evident, with men in education demonstrating lower recovery rates than their female counterparts, leading to a reduced gender gap in absence duration within this sector. These results emphasize the critical impact of mental health on employees in education, necessitating targeted interventions to address this pressing issue.
