Effect of arthroscopic partial meniscectomy on structural degeneration of the knee

A study comparing arthroscopic partial meniscectomy (APM) to placebo surgery over 5 years found no significant difference in cartilage damage progression. However, APM was associated with a higher risk of osteophyte progression. MRI data indicated slightly greater osteophyte development in the APM group compared to placebo, but no significant differences were observed for bone marrow lesions.
