A recent systematic review and meta-analysis, conducted to address the suboptimal uptake of colorectal cancer screening in the United States, has shed light on the effectiveness of behavioral interventions in promoting screening colonoscopy. The analysis of 25 studies comprising 30 behavioral interventions highlighted a significant 54% increase in colonoscopy completion rates compared to control groups. Notably, patient navigation and multicomponent interventions demonstrated the most robust impact on colonoscopy completion. The findings suggest that behavioral interventions, particularly patient navigation and multicomponent approaches, should be integrated into clinical practice to improve colorectal cancer screening rates.
