Effect of Postmeal Fast-Acting Insulin Aspart Injection on the Frequency of Hypoglycemia among Pre-School Children

The study aimed to examine the impact of postmeal Fast-acting insulin Aspart (Fiasp®) on hypoglycemia frequency compared to premeal injection in preschool children with type 1 diabetes. A single-centre trial involved 65 preschool children on multiple daily insulin injections, randomized to receive either postmeal or premeal bolus injections. After six months, the study found no significant differences in hypoglycemia frequency, hyperglycemia, HbA1c, glycemic variability, or parental satisfaction between the two groups. Ultimately, the study concluded that the timing of Fiasp® administration, whether premeal or postmeal, did not influence hypoglycemia frequency or other glycemic control parameters in preschool children with type 1 diabetes.
