A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted to determine the impact of vitamin D supplementation on recovery delay among COVID-19 patients. The study found that vitamin D supplementation did not lead to a shortened recovery delay when given to patients for whom the RT-PCR remained positive on the 14th day. The study included 117 patients, with males representing 55.6% and a mean age of 42.7 years. The median duration of viral RNA conversion was 37 days in the intervention group and 28 days in the placebo group. The study concluded that vitamin D supplementation did not have a significant impact on recovery delay among COVID-19 patients.
