Effectiveness of House Dust Mite Avoidance in Allergy Control

A meta-analysis of 17 randomized trials showed significant reductions in total dust (MD = -0.24, p < 0.001) and Der1 allergen levels (MD = -0.97, p = 0.02). However, these reductions did not translate into significant improvements in asthma, allergic rhinitis, or quality of life. While avoidance methods lower HDM exposure, their clinical benefits remain uncertain.
