A controlled laboratory study examined the differences in shoulder and elbow forces and torques and baseball pitching biomechanics in professional pitchers with varying contralateral trunk tilt (CTT) positions. The study found that pitchers with a moderate CTT position (three-quarter arm slot) had greater shoulder and elbow peak forces than those with a maximum CTT (overhand arm slot) or minimum CTT (sidearm arm slot). The study suggests that more research is needed to assess if pitchers with a moderate CTT position are at a higher risk of shoulder and elbow injury compared with other CTT positions. The study's findings can help clinicians better understand the differences in kinematic and kinetic measures in pitching and arm positions.
