Effects of education on adult mortality: a global systematic review and meta-analysis

A study assessed the global reduction in all-cause adult mortality associated with each year of schooling. The study found a dose-response relationship, revealing an average 1.9% reduction in mortality risk per additional year of education. The impact was more significant in younger age groups, with a 2.9% reduction for adults aged 18–49 compared to 0.8% for those over 70. The study underscores the pivotal role of education in enhancing life expectancy and advocates for increased global investment in education to address mortality disparities.
