This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the impact of moderate- to high-intensity exercise on bone health. The study included 28 randomized controlled trials with 2,985 participants. The analysis revealed that impact exercise improved trabecular bone density at the distal tibia, total bone density at the proximal femur, and cortical thickness at the mid/proximal radius. However, there was no significant effect on bone density and structure at the distal radius, femoral shaft, or lumbar spine. The findings suggest potential benefits of impact exercise on bone health, but further high-quality studies in different age and sex groups are needed to establish optimal exercise protocols.
