This observational cohort study compared the real-world effects of once-weekly GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4is) in adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Among new users, OW GLP-1 RA users showed a 26%, 22%, and 24% lower risk of ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, and their composite, respectively, compared to DPP-4i users. Additionally, OW GLP-1 RA users exhibited lower cardiovascular-related and all-cause healthcare resource utilization and costs compared to DPP-4i users. These findings suggest potential cardiovascular benefits and cost-effectiveness associated with OW GLP-1 RAs in this population.

An experimental triple antibiotic paste containing nitrofurantoin, ciprofloxacin, and metronidazole showed better cytocompatibility than conventional Hoshino antibiotic pastes and calcium hydroxide in human dental pulp stem cells. The paste maintained about 75% metabolic activity and better preserved cell viability, supporting further investigation as a medicament for regenerative endodontic procedures.

Mean eGFR remained stable among survivors, while NT-proBNP, CRP and NYHA class improved. The renal composite occurred in 3.3% and mortality was 6.1%. As a single-arm study, the findings are descriptive and require controlled confirmation.
